Date: May 23, 2013
Time: 7:00 pm  to  9:00 pm

The 5604 Manor Community Garden group is sponsoring its first free “Dinner and a Movie Night.” “The Garden” follows the struggle of farmers against politicians and developers. Started as a form of healing after the 1992 Los Angeles riots, the South Central farmers grew their own food and created a community. When the space was threatened by the city, immigrants from Latin America organized and spoke out.

Dinner will be outside and include dishes made with produce from our community garden. We’ll eat and learn how a community garden can be a source of strength and solidarity in times of social and economic struggle.

Dinner and socializing starts at 7 pm, with the film at 8 pm.
