Much of the gentrification discussion focuses on the displacement of longstanding residents of color from East Austin. Less attention has been paid to the lives of those residents who remain in these rapidly changing neighborhoods. Are the lives of those who stay better, worse or the same? University of Texas professor Eric Tang of the African and African Diaspora Studies Department will present findings from surveys conducted with those who continue to live on the eastside. Community residents who responded to the survey will also be on hand.
