Sulma Franco came to Austin six years ago, fleeing Guatemala after abuse, violence, and threats on her life because of her activism as a lesbian for LGBT rights. She decided to enter the United States without documents after being denied a visa by the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala, and this year is being threatened with deportation. Franco is living at the First Unitarian Universalist Church, which offered her sanctuary.

This fundraiser, which will help Franco with expenses for her legal battle, features speakers from the community, music, and dancing. RSVP and $10 tickets available online.

Location: First Unitarian Universalist Church, 4700 Grover Ave., Austin 78756
