Texans United for Families will lead a discussion about the private prison industry and immigrant detention. The event will start with a screening of the short film “Punishment and Profits,” which explains for-profit detention centers and why all communities should be concerned. A discussion will follow with members of Texans United for Families, volunteers, and community members about local organizing to stop immigrant detention centers and deportations in Austin.
