Robin Meyers, a leading national voice in progressive Christianity, will speak about “From Galilean Sage to Supernatural Savior: The Heresy of Orthodoxy.” Meyers’ new book Spiritual Defiance: Building a Beloved Community of Resistance, in which he argues that the church is becoming irrelevant due to fear, self-absorption, lack of empathy, dogman, and attachment to empire.

Meyers, pastor of Mayflower Congregational United Church of Christ in Oklahoma City, is the author of many other books, including Saving Jesus from the Church: How to Stop Worshiping Christ and Start Following Jesus and The Underground Church: Reclaiming the Subversive Way of Jesus.

On Saturday morning, Meyers will talk about “The Underground Church” and conduct a workshop on “What kind of church would you find irresistible?”
