The “Second Saturday Screening” for November is “Young Lakota,” a documentary about three neighbors in Kyle, a small town in the heart of the Pine Ridge Reservation. Their political awakening begins when Cecelia Fire Thunder, the first female president of their tribe, defies a South Dakota law criminalizing abortion by threatening to build a women’s clinic on the sovereign territory of the reservation.

The short film “Alma de Mujer” directed by Andrea Zarate will be screened after “Young Lakota.”
