Bhoomi Thakore, director of the Sociology Program at Elmhurst College, IL, will discuss her 2016 book South Asians on the U.S. Screen: Just Like Everyone Else? and ask how media representations of South Asians perpetuate stereotypes and position them in the U.S. racial hierarchy.
