Legally married in other states, many same-sex couples in Texas face an uncertain future at home. Jo Ann Santangelo visited six couples whose legal marriages are not recognized in Texas to see what life is like for them and their families for her photo essay in The Texas Observer’s July issue.

A reception and panel discussion on this issue will feature Santangelo, Cleopatra De Leon and Nicole Dimetman from the photo essay, Lauren Zurbrugg of Equality Texas Foundation, and Elizabeth Brenner of the LGBT Bar Association.
