In her new book, The Pimping of Prostitution: Abolishing the Sex Work Myth, UK journalist Julie Bindel examines the arguments surrounding the controversial debate on prostitution and its legislation. Drawing on more than 250 interviews from people affected by, and involved with, prostitution around the world—from trafficked women to legal brothel owners—Bindel paints a global picture of the lived realities of women that is essential in navigating the current political and moral debates.

Bindel is a freelance journalist who writes regularly for The Guardian and appears frequently on the BBC and Sky News. She has been active in the global campaign to end violence against women and children since 1979; is a founder of the UK group Justice for Women; and is a member of the board of SPACE, an international organization formed to give voice to women who have survived prostitution.
