The Workers Defense Project and University of Texas will release “Build a Better Texas: Construction Working Conditions in the Lone Star State,” a groundbreaking study that documents widespread legal violations and safety hazards in the construction industry. The report on construction working conditions in five Texas cities is the most comprehensive study on the Texas construction industry to date. The report not only describes high injury rates, frequent wage theft and few protections for workers in Texas but also outlines how policy makers and industry leaders can take steps to Build a Better Texas.
