University of Texas anthropologist Shannon Speed will moderate a panel on the crisis of immigrant detention and incarceration in the United States. Panelists include: Sam Vong, a member of the Texans United for Families coalition and a Ph.D. candidate in history at Yale, on “Expose and Close: Confronting the Immigrant Detention Crisis”; Rocío Villalobos, a coordinator of the Hutto Visitation Program and program coordinator at UT’s Multicultural Engagement Center, on “The Hutto Visitation Program: Solidarity with Women Detained”; and Bob Libal, Grassroots Leadership executive director, on “Operation Streamline: Confronting Migrant Criminalization.”
