St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church is hosting a conference on “The Assault on Human Rights.” The program begins Friday at 7:30 pm with a keynote address, “The Legacy of the Civil Rights Movement,” by retired Auburn University professor Jim Taylor.
The Saturday workshops that begin at 9 am include the Rev. Janie Spahr (marriage equality), Bob Libal (immigration rights and mass incarceration), Greg Casar (workers’ rights), Susan Hays (gender-based discrimination), and June Lorenzo (rights of indigenous people). The conference will conclude with a discussion on why political organizing and activism matters.
