The event on the border crisis will begin with a panel on “Understanding the Causes and the Consequences of the Crisis” moderated by NPR reporter John Burnett. Panelists include: Padre Ismael Moreno, Director, Radio Progreso and E.R.I.C, (Team for Reflection, Research and Communication); Alfonso Gonzales, Assistant Professor, LLILAS/CMAS; and Denise Gilman, Co-Director, Immigration Clinic, UT School of Law; Jerry Patterson, Texas Land Commissioner; and Marlene Guerrero Chávez, Human Rights Coalition of South Texas.

The 5 pm panel will be followed by a 7 pm discussion on community responses, which will feature local organizations working on the issue.
