Date: October 22, 2013
Time: 6:30 pm  to  8:00 pm

Robert Jensen, a professor in the UT School of Journalism and author of Arguing for Our Lives: A User’s Guide to Constructive Dialog, will teach a three-session course on the failures of journalists.

Jensen will explain why the most common critiques of news media, as well as journalists’ defense of their trade, tend to be diversionary and unproductive due to a lack of clarity about the nature of democracy and the way news media work. The three class sessions will cover fundamental philosophical and sociological issues to help illuminate the politics of the mainstream news media.

There is a fee for the course. Information and registration online.

Location: Thompson Conference Center, University of Texas, Austin
