The unsustainable agriculture that produces most of the world’s food depends on inputs derived from fossil fuels that are at the heart of catastrophic climate change. Robert Jensen, a professor in the UT School of Journalism, will discuss how the mainstream institutions of the dominant culture routinely ignore the implications of these multiple, cascading ecological crises and how we can come together to face the truth, dig in and make a commitment to “be of use.”

Jensen is the author of the forthcoming book Plain Radical: Living, Loving, and Learning to Leave the Planet Gracefully, scheduled for publication in fall 2015 by Counterpoint/Soft Skull.

The lecture is free but registration is required.

Location: Thompson Conference Center, Room 1.110, University of Texas, Austin
