Jennifer Lee’s film “Feminist: Stories from Women’s Liberation” explores the significance of the second wave of the women’s liberation movement on our lives today. It includes interviews with NOW founder Betty Friedan, authors and activists Gloria Steinem, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, Frances M. Beal, Robin Morgan, Sonia Pressman Fuentes, Betita Martinez, and many other feminists. The film won the “Best of the Fest” for documentary at this year’s Los Angeles Women’s International Film Festival.
Lee, who has worked as a producer, editor, and visual effects compositor at Lucasfilm’s Industrial Light and Magic, said that she was motivated to make the film when she realized that she didn’t know enough about the history of the women’s liberation movement to adequately explain to other women why they should be feminists.
