Urban Roots will host a showing of “Queen of the Sun: What Are the Bees Telling Us?“, an exploration of the global bee crisis. Beekeepers, scientists and philosophers from around the world discuss the threat to bees, which are a major component of sustainable agriculture.
Following the movie, a panel will discuss the local barriers to sustainable agriculture and creative solutions. The panel, which will be moderated by Dorsey Barger of Hausbar Farms and formerly of East Side Café, will include staff and interns from Urban Roots and Austin beekeeper Brandon Fehrenkamp.
Doors open at 6:30 pm and the film will start at 7 pm. Proceeds from the event will benefit Urban Roots, a youth development agency that uses sustainable agriculture to transform the lives of youth and increase access to healthy, sustainable food in Austin.
