The Next System Project helps us face creatively the systemic challenges we face now and in the near future. The second volume of the project’s “New Systems Series” includes:

Building A Cooperative Solidarity Commonwealth: Jessica Gordon Nembhard describes a system that seeks to establish and strengthen economic participation from the bottom up through interlinking networks of cooperatives.

A Civic Economy of Provisions: Marvin Brown presents a model for the next system in which economic activity is based not solely on property ownership or the free market but on civic membership in a “global civil society.”

The Next System Project was initiated by Gar Alperovitz and James Gustave Speth, two longtime thinkers and organizers for economic justice and ecological sustainability.
