Where can we look for the new ideas needed for a decent human future? The Next System Project gathers the work of people thinking the systemic challenges we face now and in the near future. From the project’s web site:
Responding to real hunger for a new way forward, and building on innovative thinking and practical experience with new economic institutions and approaches being developed in communities across the country and around the world, the goal is to put the central idea of system change, and that there can be a “next system,” on the map.
Initiated by Gar Alperovitz and James Gustave Speth—two longtime thinkers and organizers for economic justice and ecological sustainability—the project has some great resources online, including:
–David Schweickart’s paper on “Economic Democracy”
–Riane Eisler’s paper on “Whole Systems Change”
