Since May 2013, those incarcerated at the Travis County Jail have been unable to visit their family and friends in person and have been forced to use a video chat service provided by the Dallas-based company Securus. Grassroots Leadership and community allies aided those who were affected to bring in-person visits back to Travis County and pass state legislation that will prevent other counties from replacing in-person visits with video chats.

Austin-based filmmaker Matthew Gossage’s “(In)Securus Technology: An Assault on Prison Rights” chronicles the fight for in-person visits in Travis County and connects the dots between private, for-profit interests and incarceration. Tickets for the premier are available online.
