Two of the United States’ leading voices on sustainable food will speak on “Other Meals Are Possible: Sticking a Fork into Industrial Food’s Lies.”

Anna Lappé is head of the Real Food Media Project, a new initiative to spread the story of the power of sustainable food using creative movies, an online action center, and grassroots events. A longtime advocate of sustainable food systems, she is the author of Diet for a Hot Planet: The Climate Crisis at the End of Your Fork and What You Can Do About It and a founding principal of the Small Planet Institute and the Small Planet Fund.

Tom Philpott is the food and agriculture correspondent for Mother Jones magazine, where he also writes the popular “Food for Thought” blog.  A former columnist and editor for Grist, Philpott is also cofounder of Maverick Farms, an educational center dedicated to promoting family farming and sustainable food education in Valle Crucis, NC.
