The Diverse Literary Voices symposium will kick off with a panel on “The Future of Black Journalism in Austin,” featuring Billy Carr, news director, KAZI 88.7 FM; Kahron Speaman, reporter, Austin Chronicle; Alberta Phillips- Bledsoe, former editorial writer, Austin American Statesman; and Roxanne Evans, former chief editorial writer, Austin American-Statesman.

The other panels are “Forever Complicated: Familial Love and the Question of Belonging in YA,” moderated by novelist Natalia Sylvester, and “Borderless: Conversations on Art, Action, and Justice,” moderated by novelist Chaitali Sen.

The event is convened by KAZI Book Review, with support from PEN America and Austin Community College’s Creative Writing Department and Black Student Success Committee.
