Esther Reyes, executive director of the Austin Immigrant Rights Coalition, will speak about the current status of the immigration reform legislation, identifying ways people can help put pressure on legislators to create a just immigration policy as well as contribute to local organizing and community building.

The Austin Immigrant Rights Coalition promotes human rights and dignity, and social and economic justice for immigrants through community organizing, policy advocacy and public education.

Reyes, a Mexican immigrant raised in Texas, has worked with immigrant communities since her undergraduate years at Baylor University. She earned a Master’s in Social Work at the University of Pennsylvania.
