Faith leaders will release a letter expressing support for Sulma Franco’s request for a stay of removal to prevent her deportation to Guatemala. Franco fled her home country after abuse, violence, and threats on her life because of her activism as a lesbian for LGBT rights, deciding to enter the United States without documents after being denied a visa by the U.S. Embassy in Guatemala. She is living at the First Unitarian Universalist Church, which offered her sanctuary.
Supporters are welcome to attend. For more information, contact Cristina Parker at Grassroots Leadership at cparker@grassrootsleadership.org.
