In late June, the third U.S. Social Forum was held simultaneously in Philadelphia, PA, and San Jose, CA, with associated events occurring in Jackson, MS, and Tijuana, Mexico. Marcus Denton will describe his experience in Philadelphia, situate it against the first two Forums (Atlanta in 2007 and Detroit in 2010), and lead a discussion of the possible role the Social Forum process could play in revitalizing the Left and contributing to a revolutionary process in the United States. The discussion will also explore hosting a People’s Movement Assembly and/or organizing a Movement School in Austin.
