“I Am Here,” a feature-length film inspired by the stories of Youth Rise members and produced in collaboration with the Creative Action Youth Cinema Collective, tells the story of an aspiring poet navigating young adulthood and the political realities of being part of a family with mixed immigration status. The screening will be followed by a panel with Youth Rise members.
The screening kicks off fundraising for the Mentored Youth Fellowship Program, which supports youth working on a transformative project of their own design with the guidance and support of an adult mentor. “I Am Here” is the final project of one of last year’s fellows, Edson Cruz, who was mentored by a filmmaker.
