Friends Meeting House will present “On the Side of the Road,” an Israeli documentary focused on public perception of the 1948 creation of the state of Israel and displacement of Palestinians. Israeli war veterans Tikva Honig-Parnass and Amnon Noiman are the focus of the film, along with the personal story of the director, Lia Tarachansky, an Israeli who grew up in a settlement in the West Bank but as an adult became aware of the problems of the meaning of occupation for Palestinians. The film was shot over the course of five years and premiered at the First International Independent Film Festival in Tel Aviv.

A Q&A with director Lia Tarachansky will follow the film.

Friends Meeting House will also serve a dinner (vegetarian) before the film, at 5 pm.
