Photographer, writer, and activist Subhankar Banerjee has been a leading voice on issues of Arctic conservation, indigenous human rights, resource wars, and climate change. His current research focuses on the intersection of ecocultural activism and environmental humanities—environmental philosophy, environmental history, and ecocriticism.

Banerjee’s books include Arctic National Wildlife Refuge: Seasons of Life and Land and Arctic Voices: Resistance at the Tipping Point. His photographs have been exhibited in more than 50 museum exhibitions, and he received a 2012 Lannan Foundation Cultural Freedom Award.
