In stories of India as an emerging economy, the plundering of natural resources and the attacks on indigenous peoples are usually ignored. Priyanka Borpujari, an independent journalist based in Mumbai, documents the human rights abuses in this “hidden civil war” in her writing and photography. She is the 2012 International Women’s Media Foundation Elizabeth Neuffer Fellow and currently based at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The photo exhibition will be open at 4:30 pm, with the talk starting at 5:30 pm.

More information is online at the AID website and Facebook.

The talk is sponsored by the Austin chapter of the Association for India’s Development (AID) with the University of Texas School of Journalism.

Location: University of Texas, Liberal Arts Building (CLA 0.112)
