Once a month this summer, the Third Coast Activist Resource Center will host a social hour and movie night at 5604 Manor. Snacks, Topo Chico, and beer from Black Star Co-op will be available starting at 6 pm and the film will start at 7 pm.
This month’s film will be “Is the Man Who Is Tall Happy? An Animated Conversation with Noam Chomsky,” a charming film by Michel Gondry, director of “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.” Gondry, a French animator, applies his playful imagination to a series of conversations with the iconic linguist and political activist Noam Chomsky. This is definitely a Chomsky film unlike any you’ve seen, as Gondry’s curiosity and drawings make complex ideas not only accessible, but entertaining as well. A trailer is here.
We have great new projection and sound equipment at 5604 Manor, but space constraints limit seating for the film portion of the evening. It’s best to arrive early to reserve a seat. The event is free.
