The University of Texas Opportunity Forum and City Forum will host a program on Austin’s transportation future. Rapid growth is leading to rising housing prices, gentrification and displacement, the suburbanization of poverty, and worsening transportation conditions. Heading into the November 2020 elections, CapMetro has put forward an ambitious transit vision. Will voters agree to finance it? How can we ensure that the vision is equitable and supports the mobility needs of all residents?
Panelists will include Shavone Otero, President, People United for Mobility Action (PUMA); Jackie Nirenberg, Community Engagement Manager, CapMetro; and moderator Alex Karner, Assistant Professor, UT Community and Regional Planning.
The event is free, with lunch provided, but seating is limited and an RSVP is required.
Location: University of Texas, Goldsmith Hall (Room: GOL 2.120), 310 Inner Campus Drive, Austin 78705
