Hosts Raj Patel, Tom Philpott, and Rebecca McInroy from KUT’s podcast “The Secret Ingredient” will discuss “The Greek Economy, the European Union, and the Future of Social Democracy” with University of Texas professor James Galbraith.

Galbraith, who was an adviser to former Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis, will analyze economic inequality, the Greek crisis, and the prospects for social democracy in the United States. He is the author of the new book Inequality: What Everyone Needs to Know and the forthcoming Welcome to the Poisoned Chalice: The Destruction of Greece and the Future of Europe.

Patel, the author of Stuffed and Starved: The Hidden Battle for the World Food System and The Value of Nothing, is a research professor in the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas.

Philpott is the food and agriculture correspondent for Mother Jones magazine, where he also writes the popular “Food for Thought” blog.

McInroy is a host at KUT and co-creator and executive producer for “Two Guys on Your Head” with psychologists Art Markman and Bob Duke.
