Edmund “Ted” Gordon, founding chair of the African and African Diaspora Studies Department (AADS) at the University of Texas, has for years led students and visitors on a “Racial Geography Tour.” Gordon, who is Vice Provost for Diversity in addition to his faculty position, shows how racism, patriarchy, and neo-Confederate ideology are embodied in campus architecture and landscaping.
An event to mark the launch of the new website, which makes the tour available through online video, will feature a conversation between Gordon and Kevin Foster, an anthropologist who studies education and is a colleague of Gordon in AADS.
