As part of a national event, Austin is one of dozens of cities hosting screenings of the documentary of “Fixing the Future,” where host David Brancaccio (of public radio’s Marketplace and NOW on PBS) visits people across America who are reinventing the American economy. Featuring communities using innovative approaches to create jobs and build sustainability, the film inspires hope and renewal in tough economic times.
The film highlights effective local practices such as local business alliances, community banking, time banking/hour exchange, worker cooperatives, and local currencies. Following the documentary will be an exclusive on-screen panel discussion featuring Brancaccio, Bill McKibben, Majora Carter, and Mike Brady.
