Worldwide, there are about 259 million widows. Nearly half live in poverty, and even where laws protect their rights, widows are sometimes mistreated. Award-winning journalist Cynthia Gorney and Pulitzer Center executive director Jon Sawyer will discuss Corney’s National Geographic project, “For Widows, Life after Loss,” which included field research in India, Bosnia, and Uganda.

The event is sponsored by the Rapoport Center for Human Rights and Justice at the University of Texas. Refreshments will be served.
